Environmental Monitoring Bulletin of the Amazon, N.2

The second edition of the Amazon Environmental Monitoring Bulletin provides an overview of environmental conditions across the region in August 2026, drawing on data on precipitation, temperature and hotspots, as well as the monitoring of burned areas. The analysis shows an expansion of dry conditions across the Amazon Basin, above-average temperatures and a sharp increase in hotspots compared with July.

Produced by the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), with technical support from the Amazon Regional Observatory (ARO), the bulletin also tracks fire occurrence and burned areas in Indigenous Territories and protected areas. By integrating environmental indicators at the regional scale, the publication enables changes to be tracked over time and supports the identification of trends and risks across the Amazon.
