Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change
Kind of Publication: Policy Brief
The policy brief shows that climate change is already directly affecting the territories and ways of life of Indigenous Peoples in the Amazon, through droughts, floods, fires, and rising temperatures. At the same time, these peoples play a central role in conserving the forest and regulating the climate, with territories that act as barriers to deforestation. Their traditional knowledge is essential for climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The document calls for strengthening territorial protection, expanding their participation in climate policies, and valuing their knowledge.
